Can I ask a question?
Are the squares drawn in pencil so you can erase them or is this on squared paper?
They look like the former.
It's interesting. I draw squares on the paper to get the proportions right in the same way but mine are usually a lot bigger and as soon as I have the rough outline down I erase them.

You've got a very good start going here. You've done well with blocking in the dark areas and blending, and you've done a great job on the drawing itself--he's instantly recognizable, even from the thumbnail. I can't wait to see the finished result!
